Welcome to the pediatric dental practice of Travis Olson, DDS.

Our office provides specialized dentistry for children and adolescents in a warm, caring and "child-friendly" environment. As pediatric dentists, our 2-3 years of additional training after dental school has prepared us for the unique dental needs of each child we serve. We focus on preventive care to help each child grow a healthy smile that will last a lifetime. Our office serves infants, children, teens and children with special health care needs in Fargo, ND.

Nitrous Oxide

Some children are given nitrous oxide/oxygen, or what you may know as laughing gas, to relax them for their dental treatment. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is a blend of two gases, oxygen and nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is given through a small breathing mask which is placed over the child’s nose, allowing them to relax, but without putting them to sleep. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recognizes this technique as a very safe, effective technique to use for treating children’s dental needs. The gas is mild, easily taken, then with normal breathing, it is quickly eliminated from the body. It is non-addictive. While inhaling nitrous oxide/oxygen, your child remains fully conscious and keeps all natural reflexes.

Prior to your appointment:

Hospital Dentistry

Some patients are not manageable in an office setting. For children with special needs we use Meritcare’s Outpatient Surgery Center and dental services are completed while the child is asleep under general anesthesia. If this is a consideration for your child we will thoroughly discuss the procedures, risks, alternatives and goals.

Infection Control

Our office will meet or exceed infection control policies outlined by the American Dental Association, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and OSHA.
